Exercising with your dog should always be fun, but what about something a little more relaxing to de-stress you both...

Dog yoga (known as doga) is becoming ever more popular, and as they say don't knock it until you try it!

If you're a yoga lover, this has to be one of the most fun ways to exercise and enjoy spending quality time with your furry friend, not to mention the pamper session they'll get at the same time.

Introducing Your Dog To Doga

Let your dog be curious as they naturally are, don't force your dog into practicing doga.

As they become interested in what you're doing, encourage them gently to join you.

Where Should You Carry Out Doga?

The Park

The park is an ideal place to practice doga with your dog, but if you're not confident enough to do this, then try practicing at home.

At Home

Grab yourself a doga book and check out how you can practice doga at home.

Yes, your furry friend may become distracted, but that's half the fun!

Doga Classes

That's right, some cities even carry out doga classes, so check these out if they are available in your home town.

That is sure to be full of fun and entertainment!

What Doga Poses Can I Carry Out?

Doga poses depend on the size of your dog, here is what we would recommend.

Small Dog

For a small dog, they are great for lifting such as in the Warrior pose.

Another good one is the Savasana pose, this is where your lie on your back with your dog on your chest, massage them as you concentrate on your breathing whilst keeping your eyes closed.

Large Dog

Obviously, it will be difficult to lift a large dog during your doga sessions, so try stretching poses while lying along side your dog.

The Child's pose is another great choice if you have a large dog.

Other Doga Poses

The Chaturanga pose is good for small or large dogs, get your dog to lay on their stomach and then lightly stroke and massage their back, they will certainly thank you for it!

Of course, your furry friend will also be a natural with the Down dog and Up dog poses.

During quieter poses, try resting naturally together and enjoy the closeness and bonding that it will bring.

What If My Dog Won't Participate in Doga?

As we mentioned earlier, never force your dog to participate in doga, instead, encourage them gently to join you.

If all else fails and your dog won't participate, don't forget they pick up on your energy so it's still a worthwhile exercise for you both.

Glucosamine Supplements

Veterinarians strongly recommend these supplements because they naturally heal the underlying cause of arthritis and joint pain. They are very popular with pet owners because of their overwhelming success in improving their pet's health and happiness.

Glucosamine is the essential building block for healthy cartilage. Glucosamine supplements enable dogs struggling with joint pain, to naturally make more cartilage. This rebuilds and repairs the cartilage cushion between the bones in a joint. The bones stop grinding painfully together, producing wonderful improvements in mobility and happiness.

The best glucosamine supplements have additional ingredients like Chondroitin Sulfate, Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) and Hyaluronic Acid. These multiply the benefits of glucosamine.
